I feel like confessional poetry is healthy for the poet and for the readers. As a psychology major, I feel like being emotionally engaged with life and childhood experiences is good for someone’s mental. Some of the readers will feel like they can relate and it could help them with their own emotions and childhood experiences.
I also found the article to be informative. I never knew there was a genre of poetry called confessional. Unlike W.D. Snodgrass, I like the title of this type of poetry. To me, it sounds like what it is, meaning that the title was a good description of what the poetry was about. It did not remind me of a religion. It was also interesting how the era for this poetry never really ended because it blended into other forms of poetry.
