An interesting and flavorful incite into my literary discoveries.

I find myself to be a painting. When you glance at a work of art and think you have it figured out, but notice something new. That’s me.

The Griffin writing was very strange to me. It was very dense and information ranged from a narrative of a person’s life story to the historical accuracies of a war and missiles.
The tense remained passive and the theme was historical. The narrator seemed to be telling a story that branched into multiple stories the whole time.
The life of Heinrich Himmler was discussed in vivid detail. The narrator admired him and sought to depict his life and accomplishments. This portrayed a biographical theme in many lines. We learn of his sexuality and the hardships concerning that. We are also informed of a timeline of accomplishments with years and his age at the time being stated.
The depiction of trauma during the war is well captured. This portrayed a similar pattern to the black and white clips on documentaries. Griffin would mention different films or writings that came out during the same timeline being discussed. These supporting details helped to capture the historical theme.
The thread I chose to follow is the one that begins with the German film released in 1945. I follow this thread until the line that ends with Beggars. This thread highlights a film, a woman writing a letter, and a secret meeting.
This thread can easily be expanded upon by highlighting the woman’s life, the film, or the secret meeting . It would not surprise me if either of those things were expanded upon. The letter could have been about anything relevant to the wars, missiles, or Himmler’s life.
Well, a lot has happened in this passage. There is an individual narrating about this war and the role their idol plays in the war. The man becomes the narrator’s idol due to way he handled his role in the war. His name was Heinrich Himmler and he gained control of rocket production in Germany.
There is a lot about the war, but there is also a narrative of Himmler’s life. The war involved Germany, Nazis, and rockets. He enters school and is fascinated with secrets. He also seems to like gossip, considering he likes to discuss what he finds in stories and letters. Himmler aids in ending his brother’s engagement with information he found being nosey, but still growing in his power within the Reich. His passion for missiles doesn’t die and he continues to build alliances. He makes an alliance with Hermann Göring, which leads to Göring giving Himmler information about sinister activities.
Aside from his accomplishments, he was also a homosexual. His sexuality was very difficult due to the time period and the concentration of homophobia. Men beat him up for wearing one earring while walking down the street. He was almost drowned.
Research begins with questions or issues that one wishes to solve or understand. The word inquiry places emphasis on this concept.
I would to tell another student that primary research is research done by the individual. When a student gathers their individual information from surveys, observations, and/or interviews. Conducting your own information makes the activity more engaging and helps with more support for what you are writing about. It can also be used outside of school and for work.
What did I use to draft Project 1? Nothing.
I read Chapter 1, but I didn’t find it extremely helpful to the draft of Project 1. I wrote as I went along, which tends to be most helpful for me. I find my writing to be easier to construct when I just write and look at the prompt as I write to ensure I cover all/most bases. This strategy is most helpful when I have a lot to write about a topic that I don’t find dense.
When I write about research topics, I have it organized by subtopics. With the writing topic, it was possible to organize it by prompt questions, but that would affect my ability to meet the length requirement. It sounds strange, but when I am able to just write and bounce around because the topic is pretty much the same throughout, I can write a lot more.
I did not use any course key terms to write my Project 1 draft. The only consideration I see now is that it may have been easier to write if I would have put a little more thought into the the draft before writing it.
I found writing about this topic a little difficult, because the topic is not very interesting to me. I also feel like it’s not dense enough to dwell on however, I do feel my professor presented enough questions in the prompt to allow me to keep writing.
Writing is the expression of ideas and feelings by means of letters and words. There are many ways that this is done. Some people use humor and/satire, while others take a more serious, literal approach.
I am more impartial to the comedic approach to writing. However, as a writer I steer more towards the serious tone. As a writer, I write about my thoughts, what I feel, and things around me. I adore poetry, but I rarely write poetry. The rhythm distracts from serious content, and works better for emotional and environmental content, in my opinion.
In Chapter 1 of Writing Studies Primer, there weren’t a lot of strategies listed. There were many examples of questions writers should be asking themselves while/before writing. This chapter was mostly about writing and the individual as a writer. There were some tips, such as research integrity and information on the importance of writing. There were more strategies and examples in Chapter 2. I did glance at some of the examples and strategies.
As a writer, I do not use many strategies. I try to begin with brainstorming topics. Once I’ve decided on a topic, I decide on subtopics. I ask myself things questions like: “What can I say about this topic?”, “How many things can I say about this topic?”, and “How many things can I say about each subtopics?” Then, I put them in order based upon what I call a “flow.” I have to be able to create several transitional sentences for the end of each paragraph. This creates the “flow.”
Writing has taken a diminished role in my current life. Writing is not necessary for a lot of my classes anymore and I find myself having less time for writing. Most of my writing is either for this class or for my Psych 2001C class. Weekly, I complete an APA format write – up of my lab results. It’s not hard and it doesn’t consist of any literary devices. Basically, I am writing numbers and values.
In my early life, I wrote all the time. I wrote stories, poems, and interesting facts that I read. I found writing fun and something to keep me occupied. Writing was more prevalent for me in school at that time, because I was still learning how to write. Now, writing is less about words or sentences that make sense, but more about style and technique. Professors are not teaching spelling, but they are teaching rhetoric, archetypes vs stereotypes, character development, and different ways to describe the same situations or topics.
Writers are able to utilize these techniques and cover a broad spectrum of topics. Everyone writes and everyone has potential to be a writer however, everyone is not a writer. Some people posses skills that others do not have. Writing comes naturally to writers, while others have to work and strive to develop the associated skills. Associated skills are: the ability to explain your thoughts, the ability to communicate with a broad spectrum of people, and the ability to keep the reader interested. Depending what you’re and where your writing will be, deciphers who you will most likely be talking to. This will allow you to pick formats and language that those readers are impartial towards. I know this from previous class discussions and being a reader myself. The same way different crowds choose different music to listen to or different comedy to watch, they choose their genres of writing the same way. When you think of musicians and comedians, they all do the same thing, just in a different manner. Therefore, when an audience is choosing their entertainment, they are mainly choosing the way they want to be communicated with.
When I am the writer, I hate writing when the topic has been picked for me. I love writing when I am given freedom of topic and style. I can still be satisfied if style is picked for me as long as the topic is of my choosing. For me it is difficult to write about a topic that I either know nothing about or am not interested in. If I am given a topic I know very little about, as long as the topic is interested, then I will enjoy learning about the topic. Me liking a topic that was chosen for me, is very unlikely.
Hello, readers. I plan to explore different types of writing. This site will be a representation of my growth as a writer and understanding of what I have learned as a student.
Sources were a bit difficult because some of them were costly. The really good scholarly sources with the proper topics had a fee. Another issue with the sources was that most of them had studies that didn’t answer my question. My particular question was about how young adult Christians interpret the Bible. The scholarly articles were about young adult Christians and how much they go to church. This caused me to have to make make a lot of extra connections.
I presented the information to my audience through statistics and explaining how the information was answering my questions. The statistics were great at conveying the lack of young adult participation in church and religion. This was not a persuasive writing, but an informative writing. I explained how my information had leads to my conclusion. This project helped me further develop my theory of writing through making me circle back around to previously stated things. This caused me to expand on my theory of writing because it brought to my attention that writing takes a lot of reflection.
